Mission Statement
The creation of My Lebanon first and foremost aims to express my gratitude towards Japan—a country that opened its doors and its culture to myself and my family. Throughout my numerous years in Tokyo, I gained immense perspective on many aspects of Japanese life and society, and realized that in return for this cultural education, I wanted to share my sometimes obscure roots. Considering political circumstances at the moment in the Middle East, as one of its provenants I felt a duty to clear as many misconceptions as possible about the area and its history by sharing its traditions with one of my new homes. Where I come from, hospitality is especially important, and meals are lengthy, warm ordeals. Families sit together for hours and eat from the same set of dishes, sharing their lives by symbolically sharing their food. The mood is relaxed, the food is tasty, and the end product is very Lebanese. This atmosphere is what I offer to you, and I truly hope it will be as enjoyable to you as my stay in Japan was to me.
Sincerely;
Rita Ghosn
